  • 📢 Important notice: Children's programs will be suspended between August 22 - September 15 as we prepare for our Fall Programs. The children's area including scavenger hunts are still open and awaiting your visit.  

  • 📝Literary news: Craving CanLit. Celebrate Canadian authors with this list of fiction and graphic novels published between October 2024 and September 2025.   

  • 🎉 Special events: 📚  Mammoth Book Sale, 📚  Saturday August, 23, 10 am – 2 pm. Save the date! The Friends of the OPL Used Book Sale offers the best deals on gently used books, DVDs, CDs and more for all ages. Proceeds support special library projects and programs.

👶Parenting in Ottawa drop-in: Tuesday, August 26, 1 - 3 pm

For teens

🎱The Drop Zone / La zone libre: August 25, 7 - 8:30 pm. Drop-in for ages 13-17.   

🎮 Teen Gaming/ Jeux vidéos pour ados: Wednesday, August 27, Drop-in anytime between 1:30 pm– 4:30 pm.  

🎨Teen Art Contest deadline: August 27th - Pick up an entry form and rules at the Ruth E. Dickinson branch. Make sure to drop-off your art by Wednesday, August 27th at 5 pm

Thursdays at noon on X (Twitter), consult librarians from across the continent (including ours) for personalised reading recommendations.
