Skateboard and Roller Sports Strategy
The City of Ottawa is updating its 2012 Interim Skateboard Strategy, and we want to hear from you! Ottawa’s first skateboard park opened in 1987, and today we operate 25 across the city. As skateboarding and roller sports continue to grow in popularity, we’re planning for the next generation of skateboard parks.
Canada Army Run: Traffic impacts
The 18th annual Canada Army Run will have participants running, walking and rolling through Ottawa’s downtown core on Sunday, September 21. Road users should plan ahead for additional travel time on their trip or select alternate routes. Parking restrictions will also be in effect along the entire route.
Airport Parkway road resurfacing: Overnight ramp closures at Hunt Club Road
All on- and off-ramps at Hunt Club Road and Airport Parkway will be temporarily closed on rotation overnight between 8 pm and 5:30 am until Monday, September 29. The work is taking place overnight to minimize traffic disruptions. Detours will be in place.
Audit Committee receives development application review audit
The audit highlighted that timelines have been getting longer for subdivision and site plan control applications, especially during the post-approval stage when legal agreements are being finalized. The audit makes seven recommendations for improvements.
Tree Giveaway!
Replenishing our tree canopy is vital! Ecology Ottawa’s Tree Giveaway Campaign helps. Got space? Pick up a tree at the WBCA Fall Corn & Wiener Boil, Saturday, September 20, 2025, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Larkin Park, 76 Larkin Drive. Ecology Ottawa will have a booth at the event.

This public art installation focuses on the positive future for rewilding the Trend-Arlington community following the devastating storm of 2018. Representing the year of the storm, 18 butterflies are suspended from the Trend-Arlington Pavillion in celebration of community and regrowth.
2025 Accessible Ottawa Award: Nominations open
The City of Ottawa is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Accessible Ottawa Award. This year, we are introducing the Accessible Ottawa Award to celebrate the outstanding contributions of Ottawa’s businesses, organizations and residents who are dedicated to removing barriers and advancing accessibility throughout our city.
Preparing for Ottawa’s Rental Renovation Licence (Renoviction) By-law
The City of Ottawa is exploring a Rental Renovation Licence (Renoviction) By-law to ensure tenants are not unfairly displaced under the pretense of repairs or renovations. The proposed by-law would require landlords to prove that tenants must vacate for legitimate work, helping to protect housing affordability and stability. Public engagement will begin this fall, with final recommendations expected in spring 2026.
