Pedestrians, cyclists and intersections
It’s back to school time, a time when our most vulnerable road users can find themselves the victim of a serious collision. Each month the City of Ottawa Road Safety Action Plan’s communication efforts focus on specific areas that are determined based on trends in data collected for fatal and major injury collisions. The themes for the month of September are pedestrians, cyclists and intersections.
Protect your home: Disconnect your downspout
If you live in an older home, you might have a downspout that connects directly to the City’s sanitary and stormwater sewer system. Disconnecting your downspout is an easy and low-cost way to help prevent your basement from flooding.
Project update: Chief William Commanda Bridge multi-use pathway and rehabilitation project
The City of Ottawa began construction on the Chief William Commanda Bridge multi-use pathway and rehabilitation project in the fall of 2021. The project consisted of the construction of a multi-use pathway (MUP) and the rehabilitation of the substructure of the bridge.

Southbound Moodie Drive On-Ramp to Highway 417 Westbound Closure - September 15 until December
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, motorists wishing to access westbound Highway 417 from southbound Moodie Drive should anticipate impacts to traffic as crews complete necessary construction activities.
Vulnerable Social Infrastructure (Bubble) By-law Review
The City of Ottawa is considering regulations to provide for safe access to vulnerable social infrastructure like places of worship and religious centres, community centres, schools, daycares, and care homes.
Update: Greenbank Road Realignment and Southwest Transitway
The City is undertaking the design of a new 4-lane arterial roadway with 2-lane segregated median Bus Rapid Transit along the realigned Greenbank Road corridor. This project will provide a key transportation link for the fast-growing community of Barrhaven South.
