Ottawa Public Library introduces Flex Card
Ottawa Public Library is now offering a new membership card that will give Ottawa residents without photo ID and/or proof of an Ottawa address full access to our services and access to borrowing five items from our core collection. This new card – the Flex Card – is available at our 33 branches.

Canada Day schedule changes
The City of Ottawa would like to remind residents of the following schedule changes and impacts to City services for the Canada Day holiday on Monday, July 3.
Committee approves more flexible rules for altering right of way
The City’s Transportation Committee approved amendments to the Use and Care of Roads By-law that would provide residents and community groups more opportunities to undertake gardening projects and install free library boxes within the City’s right of way.
New OC Transpo and Transit app partnership
OC Transpo is partnering with the Transit app to offer a subscription of their “Royale” service to all users of the app in Ottawa. OC Transpo will also be retiring its current iPhone app.
After school daily registration now open
If you need part-time after school care, the City now offers daily registration options for the after-school activity club for the upcoming school year. The daily registration option is only offered at select recreation centres and is based on availability.
Committee hears update on urban forest plan, tree planting priorities
The City’s Environment and Climate Change Committee received an update on the Urban Forest Management Plan’s accomplishments to date and the work plan for the next four years.

Council approves new policy to divert waste from landfill
City Council today approved a new policy to reduce unnecessary waste going to landfill, that will work towards meeting provincially mandated diversion targets and increasing participation in recycling and green bin programs.
