Richmond Road at Highway 417 - Road, Ramp and Lane Closures

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, motorists travelling north and south on Richmond Road at the Highway 417 should anticipate impacts to traffic as crews complete necessary construction activities.

Sunday, November 9

What

Closure of northbound Richmond Road at the Highway 417 interchange, closure of the on-ramp from northbound Richmond Road to eastbound Highway 417, and closure of the on-ramp from southbound Richmond Road to westbound Highway 417.

When

Northbound Richmond Road and the on-ramp from northbound Richmond Road to eastbound Highway 417 will be closed Sunday, November 9 from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following day.

Please note: the on-ramp from southbound Richmond Road to westbound Highway 417 will remain closed until Friday, December 12.

Why

Installation of temporary concrete barriers (TCBs) on the night of November 9. Structure work, snow wall installation, civil work and landscaping work from November 10 to December 12

Where

Richmond Road at Highway 417.

Detours:

Motorists wishing to access eastbound Highway 417 from northbound Richmond Road will proceed northwest on Holly Acres Road to Carling Avenue. They will then turn right onto Carling Avenue and continue eastbound until reaching Pinecrest Road. They will then turn right and travel south to use the eastbound Highway 417 on-ramp.

Motorists wishing to access eastbound Highway 417 from southbound Holly Acres Road or southbound Richmond Road will travel south to Baseline Road. They will turn left and travel east on Baseline Road to Greenbank Road. They will turn left and travel north to use the Highway 417 eastbound on-ramp from Greenbank Road.

Motorists wishing to access westbound Highway 417 from southbound Bayshore Drive and southbound Richmond Road will proceed south on Richmond Road to Holly Acres Road. They will then turn right onto Holly Acres Road and travel northwest to use the westbound Highway 417 on-ramp.

Monday, November 10

What

Lane reductions on southbound Richmond Road at the Highway 417 interchange along with the full closure of the on-ramp from southbound Richmond Road to westbound Highway 417.

When

The lane reductions on southbound Richmond Road will be in place Monday, November 10 from 11:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following day.

The on-ramp from southbound Richmond Road to westbound Highway 417 will remain closed until Friday, December 12.

Why

Structure work, snow wall installation, civil work and landscaping work until December 12.

Motorists wishing to access westbound Highway 417 from southbound Bayshore Drive and southbound Richmond Road will proceed south on Richmond Road to Holly Acres Road. They will then turn right onto Holly Acres Road and travel northwest to use the westbound Highway 417 on-ramp

Anticipated Impacts

Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.

Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place, to ensure safety.

The safety of the public and workers is paramount,
