Marking 50 years since the end of the Vietnam War and Project 4000, Fortune explores the immigrant experience in Canada through Nguyen’s perspective as a Vietnamese boat person, mother, and artist. The exhibition features a series of paintings and a sculpture that weave together themes of resilience, memory, and cultural identity.
“This exhibition is both deeply personal and communal,” says An Nguyen. “Through my work, I want to honour the journey of those who came before me, while reflecting on what it means to belong, to rebuild, and to carry stories across generations.”
The exhibition invites audiences to reflect on the Vietnamese Canadian journey and the broader narratives of migration and homecoming.
Fortune is free and family-friendly, offering an opportunity for community members of all ages to engage with art and history in meaningful dialogue.
This event is made possible with the generous support of the Historical Society of Ottawa, the City of Ottawa, and the Ontario Arts Council.
