Holiday season schedule changes
The City of Ottawa would like to remind residents of the following schedule changes for the holiday season between Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, January 1
Take transit to the World Junior Hockey Championship
Travel on OC Transpo is free for World Juniors ticket holders and volunteers for every preliminary and tournament game between December 19-January 5. Ticket holders can travel on buses, O-Train Line 1, and Para Transpo for free up to three hours before and three hours after the event on the date their game ticket is valid.
City offers “Play Free Saturdays” for kids and youth in 2025
Children and youth, age 17 and under, can take part in free drop-in swimming, skating and gym sports at City recreation facilities every Saturday in 2025. These free drop-in programs on Saturdays continue to allow children and youth to participate in City programs and benefit from the associated health and social benefits of these activities.

The OPL will be operating under modified holiday hours over the next few weeks. The book drop is available 24/7 to return books.

OC Transpo Winter 2025 service changes
OC Transpo’s winter service changes will come into effect on Sunday, December 22, 2024, and Monday, January 6, 2025. Regular schedule adjustments take place four times a year – spring, summer, fall and winter.
Council approves 2025 City Budget
Council today approved the City’s budget for 2025↗, which aims to build a city that’s safe, fair and affordable for all. Budget 2025 continues to invest in the more than 100 services that keep Ottawa running. It includes $54.2 million in savings through service reviews and continuous improvement initiatives, bringing the total to $207.7 million in savings since 2023.
Coping with cold weather
Winter and its cold weather are around the corner. Cold weather-related injuries and deaths are preventable. Stay safe and check in on family, friends and neighbours who may be at greater risk.
