The City of Ottawa would like to remind residents of the following schedule changes and City service impacts for the Thanksgiving holiday on Monday, October 14.

OC Transpo staff have released the schedule and criteria for Trillium Line (O-Train lines 2 and 4) trial running, which will begin Monday 7 October 2024. Trial running will demonstrate if all elements of the system are ready for passenger service, representing the culmination of months of testing, basically a “final exam” for TransitNEXT.

The City of Ottawa recognizes outstanding achievements in heritage conservation with the Ottawa Heritage Awards. The applications for projects completed between January 2023 and December 2024 are now open.

City staff will be providing information on the status of trial running for O-Train lines 2 and 4, including the anticipated start date, on Thursday 3 October 2024 at 1:30 pm.

The maximum idling time will be three minutes per hour. When it is colder than zero degrees Celsius or warmer than 27 degrees Celsius, the maximum idling time will be 10 minutes per hour.

Tuesday 1 October is National Seniors Day. The City has organised a virtual event to celebrate and honour the contributions of older adults in Ottawa and across Canada to value their experience, their wisdom, and their involvement in all aspects of our community.

The City of Ottawa’s Nightlife Commissioner Office is recuiting at-large community members to form its nightlife council! The application period is open until 11 October 2024.

As part of the fall Wake Up! program, firefighters from Ottawa Fire Services will visit homes across the city next week to ensure smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are present and working.

As part of the continued resident engagement efforts for the new Zoning By-law, staff will be holding a series of in-person workshops across the city in October and November.
