The City of Ottawa is recruiting members for its 2026-2030 Election Compliance Audit Committee

The Election Compliance Audit Committee (ECAC) is an independent, statutory body established under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (MEA). It reviews applications for compliance audits of the campaign finances of candidates and registered third party advertisers. The ECAC also reviews reports from the City Clerk about apparent violations of contribution limits set out in the MEA.

Ideal candidates would have practical experience in administering elections, with a specific focus on municipal election finance. Ideal candidates may include former municipal clerks or elections office managers, auditors, accountants, lawyers, or other individuals with knowledge of the campaign financing rules of the MEA.

The City of Ottawa is committed to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion in every aspect of its work, including the appointment process and appointments to public member committees. As such the City urges Indigenous and racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and women and gender diverse persons to apply, and to include, on a voluntary basis, information to strengthen their application in this regard.
