Summer 2024 transit service changes

Regular schedule adjustments take place four times a year – spring, summer, fall and winter. Summer schedule changes are set to take effect as of Sunday, June 30th, 2024.

Service Adjustments for Construction

As a result of road reconstruction, Stage 2 construction activities, and other infrastructure projects, the following routes may experience delays, detours, and additional travel time:

  • Route 7 eastbound will remain on detour between Seneca Street and Bank Street with alternative service on Sunnyside Avenue due to construction related to the Grove Avenue Integrated Renewal Project.

  • Sunday trips southbound on Route 93 and Thursday trips on Shopper Route 304 will be detoured via Findlay Creek Drive, Kelly Farm Drive, and Miikana Road due to the closure of Bank Street between Shuttleworth Drive and Blais Road / Miikana Road for road widening.

  • Routes 45 and 55 will be detoured from the CHEO access roadway to Ring Road to accommodate construction activity within the hospital campus. Temporary stops have been constructed on Ring Road to maintain customer access during the detour.

  • Route 48 will be detoured via Canterbury Avenue, Pleasant Park Road, and St-Laurent Boulevard due to the closure of the Canterbury Avenue and Halifax Drive intersection as part of the Canterbury, Arch and Plesser Integrated Renewal Project.

  • Route 55 westbound will remain on detour via Highway 417 from Greenfield Avenue to Catherine Street to accommodate construction activity related to the MainHawthorne-Greenfield Reconstruction Project.

  • Route 56 eastbound will remain on detour between Bank Street and Isabella Street with alternative service to existing bus stops on Bank Street and Isabella Street due to construction activity as part of the Glebe Avenue Integrated Renewal Project.

  • Some Route 88 bus stops on Hazeldean Road between Irwin Gate and Castlefrank Road will have short-term closures due to construction activity.

  • Westbound service on Routes 16, 61, 63, 66, 75, N57, N61, and N75 between Bayview Station Road and Parkdale Avenue will be detoured from Scott Street via Bayview Station Road, Burnside Avenue, and Parkdale Avenue to accommodate construction activity associated with the Scott Street Reconstruction Project.

  • Route 165 will be detoured via March Road, Maxwell Bridge Road, and Marconi Avenue due to construction activity on Klondike Road from March Road to Marconi Avenue.

  • To accommodate Stage 2 rail construction activities, Transitway service between Westboro Station and Lincoln Fields Station will continue to be detoured nightly from 10:30 pm to 6 am on weekdays, and all day on weekends from 10:30 pm Friday through to 6 am Monday (or Tuesday when Monday is a holiday).

Seasonal Service Changes

  • 600-series school routes will not operate during the summer.

  • Summer weekend service to seasonal destinations will return, with specific start dates provided on octranspo.com:

    • Route 139 to Petrie Island

    • Route 185 to the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum

    • Summer weekend service between the Canada Aviation and Space Museum and Blair Station will be provided as in past years but will now be identified as Route 125.

  • Line 2 bus service and Routes 7 and 25 will have minor frequency reductions during certain time periods on weekdays to reflect reduced ridership levels normally seen on these routes during the summer.

Service to Major Events

  • Bluesfest – Fares to and from the event are included with the event ticket. Additional buses will be available to supplement service levels where needed. Service on OTrain Line 1 will be extended by one hour to midnight on Sundays and will operate more frequently in the evenings to help event attendees depart the festival.

  • Redblacks games – Fares to and from the event are included with the event ticket. Special 450-series service is provided to bring customers to and from the games.

Holidays

  • Canada Day – Monday, July 1, 2024 – Bus, O-Train, and Para Transpo service is free all day. Bus service will operate on a special Canada Day schedule.
