🎬 Holiday Movie Night 🎬

Join us for a screening of Scrooge from 1935! This re-telling of the Victorian classic A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a trip back in time for the whole family. The film is 1 hour and 20 minutes long and English subtitles will be shown. Snacks will be served! Thursday December 22 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm


⛄ In-Person Winter 2023 Programs ⛄

Staff at Ruth E. Dickinson are excited to welcome everyone back for in-person programming this winter! We have something for everyone: adultsteenschildren and families!  Programs will resume the week of January 9, 2023. Registration opens on Monday January 2, 2023 at 10 am.

  • All adult programs are drop-in, no registration required! 

  • Some children's programs require registration. Here are a few of our favourites:

    • Dickinson Discovery Club: Tinkering, Coding, Creating, Experimenting and Designing. Come get excited about STEM with us. For thinkers ages 6-8 years and their adult co-learner. Select Thursdays at 6:00 pm

    • Ready, Set, Kindergarten! A school readiness program for children 3-4 years-old, who will be entering kindergarten in September 2023, and their adult co-learner. Wednesdays at 2:00 pm

      • A library card is required to register. Don't have one? Get one here or visit us in branch.

  • We also have a variety of drop-in programs for children (no registration required):

    • Toddlertime: Mondays at 10:15 am and 11:00 am - Stories, rhymes and songs for toddlers together with their parents or caregivers. Ages 19 to 35 months

    • Babytime: Fridays at 10:30 am - Rhymes, songs and stories for babies and their parents or caregivers.  Ages 0 to 18 months. 

    • Early On Baby Playgroup: Mondays at 1:30 pm - Baby playgroups are facilitated by Early Childhood Educators with early learning activities for babies and a chance for caregivers to network and share experiences. Ages 0 to 18 months.

    • Homework Help: Tuesdays at 6:30 pm - Tutoring and homework help for children in grades 1 to 8.  In partnership with Frontier College.
