Whether you’re an avid reader, a literature lover, or simply someone with a curious mind, chances are you’re keeping an eye out for the latest literary award news. This fall, several major literary awards have revealed their winners. Here are some highlights for your reading pleasure↗.

  • Learning English?
    Join one of our conversation groups to practice your English conversation skills in a low-pressure, friendly environment. All levels are welcome.  

  • Estate planning↗ - November 28 at 10:30 am: Presented by Chartered Professional Accountants Canada, this workshop will address topics to help you: understand the what and why of estate planning, learn about the various tools of estate planning, powers of attorney, wills, joint accounts, gifting, trust, define dying without a will, learn key facts on life insurance.

  • Employment support↗ - November 28 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm: Are you looking for work? Unemployed or underemployed? Drop-in to meet one-on-one with an Employment Counsellor from the Pinecrest-Queensway Employment Services team.

  • Model train display↗ - November 29 (10 am to 5 pm) and November 30 (10 am to 3 pm): Visit “Marmadale Wharf” and learn about the hobby of model railroading from members of The Ottawa British Railway Group.

  • Book bites | Petites bouchées littéraire↗ - November 29 at 10:30 am: Not sure what to read? We are here to help! We will present some of our favourite books from the picture book, early reader, graphic novel, non-fiction, and fiction collections! Rotate around the room and enjoy a taste of whatever title speaks to you. This program will include books and presentations in English and French. Drop-in program. Ages 0-12. 

  • Letters to Santa | Lettre au Père Noël↗ - November 29 at 11:30 am: Get ready for the holiday season by writing a letter to Santa! We will provide all the supplies you need! Drop-in program. Family program. 

  • Pop-up: Legal clinic/Clinique juridique↗ - December 3 from 1 pm - 4pm: Do you have questions for a lawyer? A lawyer of Community Legal Services of Ottawa will be available on-site to provide legal advice and answer your legal questions about social benefits, housing and immigration. First come, first served.

  • EcoRangers↗ - December 4 at 6:30 pm: Explore. Protect. Play! A nature adventure for kids! Discover amazing animals, build fun crafts, play games. For ages 5 and up. Drop-in program.

    Join our new book club which is meeting monthly on Saturday afternoons at the Ruth E. Dickinson Branch! All assessments, interpretations, and opinions are valued and respected. Register online. 

  • Children, tweens, and teens: Winter Sports↗
    Picture books, early readers, chapter books and graphic novels for fans of winter sports (ages 0 to 15). Albums, premières lectures, romans, et bandes dessinées pour les amateurs de sports d'hiver (0 à 15 ans).
