Mark your calendars! This April, join us for One eRead Canada: a cross-country reading experience! From April 1 to 30, you can get free and unlimited eBook and eAudiobook access to Tatouine / Ce quโ€™on respire sur Tatouine by Jean-Christophe Rรฉhel. Readers from more than 100 public libraries across the country will take part in this yearโ€™s digital book club, an initiative of the Canadian Urban Libraries Council.

Join one of our live virtual conversations with a Radio-Canada host and the writer Jean-Christophe Rรฉhel on April 25 (in French) and with a CBC host and Katherine Hastings and Peter McCambridge, the translators on April 19 (in English)!

๐Ÿ’ฌ Wanted: French Conversation Group Volunteer for June ๐Ÿ’ฌ 

The Ruth E. Dickinson branch is currently looking for an adult volunteer to facilitate our French Conversation Group on Thursday evenings in June (1, 8, 15, 22, 29) from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Must be 18+ with a fluent or advanced knowledge of spoken French. Interested applicants can apply online through Better Impact or contact our Adult Services Librarian by email. 

๐ŸŒท Spring Children's Programs ๐ŸŒท

Looking for activities to do with your babies or children this spring?  We have a variety of drop-in programs for children (no registration required) that will help you guide your child towards success by promoting language, literacy and social skills. Join us weekly for:

  • Babytime: Fridays at 10:30 am - Stories, songs and rhymes for babies and their parents or caregivers.  For babies 0-18 months.

  • Early ON Baby Playgroup: Mondays at 1:30 pm - Join us for baby playgroups facilitated by Early Childhood Educators with early learning activities for babies and a chance for caregivers to network and share experiences. For babies 0-18 months. 

  • Toddlertime: Join us on Mondays at 10:15 am and 11:00 am for stories, rhymes and songs for toddlers together with their parents or caregivers. Ages 19 to 35 months. 

  • Homework Help: Tutoring and homework help for children in grades 1 to 8 will be resuming Tuesday March 28. This program is provided in partnership with Frontier College. Tuesdays until June 13 at 6:30 pm

  • We also have a variety of family Storytimes to choose from - English, French, or bilingual! 

๐Ÿ“ Camp NaNoWriMo: Write-In ๐Ÿ“ 

Come join the Ottawa Municipal Liaisons of NaNoWriMo for a few hours of writing and chatting during Camp NaNoWriMo! Thursday April 6 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Camp NaNoWriMo is your next, great writing adventure! This month-long writing challenge takes place every April and July. It offers you the flexibility to try something new with your writing: you can set your own word-count goal, and you can officially tackle any kind of writing project, novel or not. Happy writing!
