OC Transpo summer schedule change

OC Transpo’s summer service changes, which will go into effect on Sunday, June 28, 2026. The summer service period is in place until Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Regular schedule adjustments take place four times a year – spring, summer, fall and winter. In this service change, additional schedule enhancements will be implemented for Route 11 as part of OC Transpo’s Customer-First Action Plan. This is in addition to seven routes that were adjusted as part of the spring service change. An additional 22 routes will have more running time added as part of the fall service change, providing more reliable service to 50 per cent of bus customers.

The summer service change includes the following:

  • Customer-First Action Plan adjustments

  • Line 4 schedule adjustments

  • Seasonal service changes

  • Service for major events and holidays

  • Service adjustments for construction

  • O-Buskers program update

Customer-First Action Plan adjustments

  • A focus of OC Transpo’s Customer-First Action Plan is to make service more reliable and deliver the service that is advertised. As detailed at the June 11, 2026 Transit Committee, the actions underway include moving towards a proactive maintenance model and adjusting bus schedules to reflect real travel times and workforce availability.

  • During the summer, a preventative maintenance campaign will prepare the fleet for increased ridership in September and the return of harsh winter weather. This means that there will be reduced frequency on some routes, which will result in increased travel times, particularly on weekends. Customer information has been updated to show planned trips. Customers are encouraged to plan their trips ahead of time using the Travel Planner or Transit app.

  • The review of bus schedules is underway and changes to Route 11 will be made to better align with observed travel times. For customers, this will mean improved on-time performance and more predictable travel times.

  • Minor schedule adjustments will be made to improve Sunday morning frequency on Route 98.

Line 4 schedule adjustments

  • To provide customers with predictable and consistent service on O-Train Line 4, weekend frequency to the airport will be adjusted to every 24 minutes. This adjustmentis expected to continue into the fall.

  • This schedule adjustment is temporary and ensures we can provide a reliable service for customers while we continue to stabilize staffing levels through hiring and training.

  • Weekend service can be increased to every 12 minutes on Line 4 should there be an event at the Cohere Centre at Uplands Station.

  • Route 105 bus service also continues to operate as an alternative way to travel to or from the airport.

Seasonal service changes

  • School service will not operate for the duration of the summer period, with the exception of special arrangements for French-language school boards, which will resume classes on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

  • Seasonal weekend and holiday service will operate on an extension of Route 8 to the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, Route 125 to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and Route 139 to Petrie Island. Summer destination service will begin June 20 on Route 139, and June 28 on Routes 8 and 125, and the last day of summer destination service will be Labour Day, September 7, 2026.

Service for major events and holidays

  • Canada Day: Free service will be offered all day on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Bus service and O-Train Lines 1 and 2 will operate on a special Canada Day schedule. Line 1 will operate from 6 am to 2 am, with enhanced frequency in the evening. Line 2 service will operate from 7 am to 1 am.

  • Bluesfest: Fares to and from the event are included with the event ticket and additional buses will be available to supplement service levels where needed. OTrain Lines 1 and 2 will be extended in the evening on Sundays to end at midnight. Line 1 will operate with enhanced frequency in the evenings to accommodate attendees leaving the event.

  • Redblacks games: Fares to and from the event are included with the event ticket. Special 450-series service is provided to bring customers to and from the games.

  • Civic Holiday: On Monday, August 3, 2026, bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule with enhanced service on Routes 8, 25, 63, and 74. Route 13 will provide service between Tunney’s Pasture Station and Gatineau during peak periods. OTrain Line 1 will operate on a reduced weekday schedule from 5 am to 1 am. O-Train Lines 2 and 4 will operate on a normal weekday schedule from 6 am to midnight.

Service adjustments for construction

Walkley Road Reconstruction and Bridge Rehabilitation

  • Beginning in the late spring/summer, road reconstruction and bridge rehabilitation will begin along Walkley Road, including the bridge structure over the Transitway. This work will result in lane closures and lane shifts along Walkley Road and along the Transitway through Walkley Station. Impacts are expected to include bus stop and platform relocations for customers.

Bayshore Station and Holly Acres

  • Through the summer service period, various impacts are expected in the vicinity of Bayshore Station, along the Transitway west of Bayshore Station, and along Holly Acres Drive as part of O-Train Stage 2 construction works. This work will be staged, with some phases requiring detours to service, lane reductions, or other impacts.

O-Buskers program update

Beginning later this summer, OC Transpo’s O-Buskers program will spotlight local musical entertainment, bringing vibrancy and a sense of community to select O-Train stations. The program falls under the City’s #ottmusic initiative and expands City-led music programing to public transit. OC Transpo is excited for customers to experience and enjoy local musical talent during their transit journey. Information will be shared on octranspo.com and social media channels before the program launches
