Notice of Overnight Construction Work: Richmond Rd between Ancaster Ave and Allison Ave

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, overnight work is required to complete underground utility replacement on Richmond Road between Ancaster Avenue and Allison Avenue.

Residents are advised to expect elevated noise levels throughout the night during this work, which includes the use of hydrovac trucks and rock-breaking equipment. Every effort will be made to ensure the majority of hydrovac and rock-breaking work is completed during the day to reduce noise at night.

Night work is required in this situation to ensure continued access to businesses located at 993 and 979 Richmond Road during regular business hours. Due to the nature of this work, access to these properties cannot be maintained while crews and equipment are present. Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists should follow detour signage posted in the vicinity of the worksite as routes through this area will change as the work progresses.

We thank all residents for their continued understanding and cooperation during this ongoing construction.

Residents are advised to expect elevated noise levels throughout the night. Hydrovac trucks will be working in the area overnight. Additional equipment such as excavators equipped with rock breaking equipment and asphalt/concrete saws will also be working in this area overnight. These activities are not expected to occur every night during this operation.

Noise and vibration from crews and other vehicles/equipment can be expected. All construction vehicles and equipment working overnight will be equipped with broadband back-up alarms.

Excavation, hauling and delivery of materials may occur overnight. Tailgate slamming and box shaking will not be permitted.

Site lighting for overnight work is required to maintain safe working conditions for workers. Lighting will be positioned towards the work zone and away from residential buildings.

Generators, light plants and residence-adjacent worksite fencing will be surrounded by Echo Barrier mats.

Access to the Tim Hortons restaurant at 993 Richmond Road and Tops Car Wash at 979 Richmond road will be fully maintained during business hours. All other businesses and residents in the area will continue to have driveway access during this work and local access will be maintained.

Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.

Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place, to ensure safety.

The safety of the public and workers is paramount, and we thank you for your patience during construction.
