September 30th is an opportunity to reflect on the legacy of the residential school system, honour the children who never returned home, and recognize the ongoing impact these schools have had on survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities.
Join us at Ruth E. Dickinson to participate in activities for the whole family:
🔸 Heart Garden
🔸 Pick-up a biodegradable paper heart prepared by the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library. (Available all week.)
🔸Write a message of reconciliation before planting it at home.
🔶 Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada Maps
Join a guest guide from Canadian Geographic as they lead you on a tour of a giant floor map of Canada from 11:30 am –1:00 pm.
🔶 NFB Film Loop
A selection of short films provided by the National Film Board will run throughout the day. Some short title films include:

The front entrance of the branch will feature a selection of resources from both our Children's and Adult collections.
