Letters to Santa

Write your letter to Santa with the City of Ottawa Archives!

This year our annual Letters to Santa kits are fully available online for download and printing. The printouts include an activity sheet, letterhead, and letter-writing instructions.

If you need assistance, please email the City of Archives team.

The Letters to Santa program is delivered by Canada Post. For over 40 years, Canada postal elves have been busy helping Santa sort through over one million letters each year from around the world!

Guidelines for mailing your letter:

Refer to the Canada Post website for more tips and ideas.

  • To ensure a response from Santa by the holidays, mail your letter by December 6, 2024

  • Make sure to address your letter to Santa on the front of your envelope:

    Santa Claus

    North Pole

    H0H 0H0

    Canada

  • Include your name and address at the top left-hand corner of your envelope:

    Cindy Lou Hou

    123 Grinch Street

    Ottawa, Ontario

    123 456

    Canada

  • Write your letter in any language, and don’t forget to tell Santa you’ve been good! Santa will respond to your letter in the same language you write it in.

  • The elves ask that all letters from the same family are in one envelope.

  • Send your letter! Letters to Santa are free so no need for postage.
