Construction update: Ottawa Police Service South facility

Construction of the Ottawa Police Service’s South Facility at 3505 Prince of Wales Drive continues to progress well with the super structure now complete. Building the new police station means we can better serve the growing communities in Ottawa South and effectively support District policing.

Ongoing Activities

As we near the end of 2025, we wanted to share some significant milestones achieved thus far as well as some upcoming activities expected for 2026.

Earlier this year, the project celebrated a major milestone: the completion of the steel structure to the top of the building.

The concrete and steel structures are complete and work on the building envelope is well underway and will continue into winter with insulation and exterior systems being installed. During the winter months, effort will shift into building the interiors of the facility. Work will continue to shape and level the ground around the building to prepare for paving, which will take place next spring.

Construction

The Ottawa Police Service has retained general contractor Broccolini Construction Inc. (BCI) to complete the construction of the new South Facility. BCI continues to take every precaution to minimize disruptions to nearby residents and businesses.

However, as you can appreciate, some inconveniences may occur during construction, such as temporary traffic delays, noise, and dust. You may also notice vibrations from heavy equipment and large trucks.

These are common in construction and rarely cause any issues to surrounding properties or structures. The City of Ottawa follows provincial requirements and the City’s Noise By-law (2017-255) for construction activity hours of work that involve loud noises.

Safety

The Ottawa Police Service is committed to maintaining safety in and around the project site. The project team continues to work closely with BCI and to ensure compliance with all requirements from municipal, provincial, and federal health and safety authorities, including the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
